Zion School and Adair County 4-H partnered and combined grants to build an herb and vegetable garden last school year. We had several activities planned but due to school closures and COVID-19, most of those got postponed. Adair County 4-H officers, staff, and volunteers helped us get the raised beds built and the plants in the ground in April and we have been harvesting fresh foods since late July. Classes are taking turns getting cherry tomatoes and salsa. The okra and squash are being frozen to enjoy later. From our garden to our students! We were also able to build an outdoor seating area that can be used as an outdoor classroom. Zion 4-H members are working to beautify it and make it a relaxing spot to read and learn.
