Zion 2023 Honor Students Named
Chase Edward Benham, son of Chad and Valerie Benham, has been named valedictorian of the 2023 eighth grade graduating class of Zion School. The salutatorian is Remington Holster Bogart, son of Randy and Alina Bogart.
Benham has attended Zion School from three years old through eighth grade. He is a member of Zion Academic Team, 4-H, student council, and on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. Besides earning the title of valedictorian, Chase was also chosen to receive the Masonic Student of Today award. Chase is an active participant in Jets football, basketball, and track. Chase was a member of the O.R.E.S. Division II State Championship football team. During basketball season he was a member of the Adair County Championship basketball team, and chosen as an Adair County All-Star, a member of the O.R.E.S. Division II State Championship basketball team, and chosen for the O.R.E.S. Division II All Tournament Team. Recently, Chase competed at the Division II O.R.E.S. state track meet placing first in all four events along with winning the O.R.E.S. Division II State Championship title as a team. Chase also plays travel baseball. Playing sports, fishing, hunting, working out, hanging out with his friends and going to the lake with his family are among Chase’s favorite things to do. Chase is a member of Victory Baptist Church and plans to attend Stilwell High School.
Remington has attended Zion School since he was three years old. Remie is a member of the Zion Academic Team, 4-H, student council, and on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. Most recently, Remie received the Masonic Student of Today award. He is an active participant of the Jets football and basketball teams. Remie was a team member of the Adair County Softball Championship team. During basketball season Remie was a member of the O.R.E.S. Division II State Football and Basketball Championship teams. Remie’s pastimes include playing basketball, drawing pictures, collecting basketball cards, playing video games, and hanging out with friends. Remie is a member of Guiding Light Pentecostal Church and also plans to attend Stilwell High School.
Zion honor graduates to be recognized for their academic achievements include: Brayton Carter, son of Adam and Bethany Carter; Luke Duncan, son of Leah Duncan; Chris Gonzales, son of Rodney Gonzales; WinterHawk Ketcher, son of Stephanie and Greg Killough; Traedyn Setser, son of Lindsey Meeks and Justin Setser; Zane Williams, son of Misty and Shaun Perez and Derick Williams.
Other Zion graduates include Chloe Braden, Aubrey Chuculate, Evan Cochran, Kynzie Eagle, Lucy Johnson, Jaxon Ketcher, Danny Kimble, Isaac Livers, Trinity Livers, Nicholas Loman, Alexandra Martinez, Reese McVey, Gage Nelson, Lisa Ruben, Daylah Soap, Keegan Starr, Daylen Watie, Ryan Willis, Jimmie Wing, Heith Wolf, and Destiny Wolfe.
Graduation exercises are scheduled for 6 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2023, in the George E. Starr Fieldhouse.
